Wild Hog Scat

Feral Hog scat

Wild Hog Poop Varies in Color and Texture

Wild pigs leave behind somewhat clumpy poop that measures 3 – 9 inches, and is either tan or black in color. It’s hard to predict the texture or consistency, as hogs forage and their diet varies. Sometimes they may load up on vegetation, and other times they’ll load up on worms, bugs, or trash. Hog poop is very different from deer poop, which is a lot more consistent since deer tend to eat the same things year round.

Deer scat

Deer Scat is More Predictable

Deer leave behind small, round, shiny poop that tends to look like shiny black pebbles in the grass and forests. It’s contrasted with the hog poop because it will always be the same color, and roughly the same consistency. Keep in mind that deer and feral pigs tend to overlap in the same habitats, so it wouldn’t be strange to see deer poop and hog poop clustered close to each other.

Dangers of Pig Poop

Hog poop smells and looks terrible, and it also contains several different strands of bacteria that are harmful or deadly to humans. E. coli bacteria and swine brucellosis are commonly found in hog poop. Furthermore, eating a wild hog can also transmit brucellosis bacteria, so you have to be careful if you decide to eat one. The scat the sounder leaves behind can also contaminate your water supply and make you or your animals very sick. This is another reason why wild hogs must be removed from your property as soon as possible.

Get rid of the hogs once and for all. It only takes one call.
